Absolute Monarchy and Divine Right
Absolute Monarchy - a monarchy that is not limited or restrained by laws or constitution.
Divine Right - the doctrine that the right of rules derives directly from God, not from the consent of the people.
Louis XIV showed absolute monarchy and divine right in his rule. He showed divine right by refusing to share his power with his ministers. His motto was "One king, one law, one faith". He showed absolute monarchy by moving his court from Paris to Versailles to have more control. All titles, positions, and privileges had to come before him. He also let himself be known as the "Sun King" because he believed everything revolved around him.
